Great Blue Herons filled the trees around my southern Arizona home's neighborhood lakes for a few years. Learning their nesting habits, I spent my evening walks going by the lakes to see what they were doing and often spent hours there. Just watching with my 800mm zoom lens. My patience was rewarded when this great blue heron landed high on a tree. Its feet were muddy from fishing in the lake.
